The Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia Australian Research Consortium (CLLARC) is a non-profit organisation which was established to advance the understanding of and research into CLL. The organisation is dedicated to improving the outcomes of patients with CLL and progress towards the control and cure of the disease.
The aims of the CLLARC include :
- Develop and conduct CLL Clinical Trials in Australia.
- Foster research and scientific collaboration and support for CLL projects in Australia.
Members of the CLLARC include clinicians, researchers and representatives of the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia (LFA), all of whom are involved in the care of patients with CLL. Additionally, the Australasian Leukaemia Lymphoma Group (ALLG) will be pivotal in the coordination of clinical trials that are developed by the CLLARC.
Through facilitation of communication and collaboration between study groups, physicians, patients, government bodies, pharmaceutical manufacturers and the public, the CLLARC aims to ensure coordinated and effective support is recruited to achieve the best possible outcomes for CLL patients through research, clinical care and education. With the streamlining of research projects and funding opportunities, patients will be provided with tangible benefits in a time-frame relevant for their disease.
Current and planned projects of the organisation include clinical trials , research and scientific studies, laboratory standarisation in CLL and the establishment of the CLL Australian Research Foundation .
The CLLARC will also act as an expert advisory panel to assist the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia provide assistance to patients through education, patient services, newsletters and other means to assist and benefit patients with CLL. The LFA will also coordinate research grants that may be provided on a scientific and medically grounds that benefit CLL research and clinical care.
The CLLARC is an inclusive group, open to every clinician and researcher with a manifest interest in CLL.
